Hi:
i just created a new domain.
I am trying to upload some files and it is very slow since 2 days.
I have tried others software to ftp than the current I use.
I looked at the prefs of the software : changed from passive to none.
Nothing. SLOW... too slow.
Tired, I looked to the other host I used for my others customers.
I tried to upload with the same software and prefs.
QUICK !!!
So please tell me where is the problem here with web5 ?
Urgent !!!
Thanks
Bernard
Hi,
I was just able to upload a 1.5M file to web5 without any issue. I have not noticed any slowdowns on the server (yesterday or today), and this is the first time I've heard of anyone having these issues. Can you please tell me what speeds you are currently getting via FTP, and what speeds you usually receive? Are your download speeds from web5 slow as well? Thanks.
Hi,
Looking at the logs, I can't say I see much of an issue. I see slower overall download speeds for smaller files (~10k in size), and faster download speeds for bigger files (~62k in size). This is normal behavior, as your upload speeds will not immediately start out at full speed, but will rapidly increase:
Example 1: 3 seconds to upload a small file
-----------------------------------------
Aug 12 17:22:44 web5 ftpd: (you@ipaddr) [NOTICE] /home/you//public_html/path/29.jpg uploaded (10233 bytes, 3.32KB/sec)
Example 2: 3 seconds to upload a larger file
------------------------------------------
Aug 12 17:19:09 web5 ftpd: (you@ipaddr) [NOTICE] /home/you//public_html/path/12.jpg uploaded (62133 bytes, 25.19KB/sec)
To futher illustrate an example of what I posted above, I searched for your uploads in the last 1000 logs of our log file, and picked out the slowest 5 sessions, and the fastest 5 sessions, and noted the file size:
Slowest 5
0.21KB/sec 517 bytes
1.51KB/sec 7553 bytes
1.53KB/sec 516 bytes
1.59KB/sec 519 bytes
1.88KB/sec 519 bytes
Fastest 5
26.08KB/sec 69399 bytes
26.17KB/sec 70924 bytes
26.69KB/sec 81238 bytes
26.89KB/sec 80470 bytes
27.15KB/sec 89427 bytes
With the exception of the second slowest upload, everything looks fine. Saying what caused the slowdown for that 1 particular upload would be anyone's guess - it could have been a hiccup on our end, on your end, or somewhere in between.
edit: if you're curious, your average upload speed over your last 99 uploads via FTP comes out to 9.67KB/sec. That's not the best number to judge your upload capabilities by, as you can see that you will get "slower" speeds for very tiny files (the ones that upload in less than a second), and much faster speeds for the larger files.

OK !!!
i suppose you checked on the main server ?
or the new domain (cubriberica) ?
I was uploading some files yesterday and it was desesperatly slow..
I tried the same on my other host provider..and it was so speed that I am very dubious about your examples...
I used the same the same conf for the client ftp softw.
I just changed from you, the host provider, to the other one.
So finally, where is the problem ?
If you are not the cause..what I can do ?
just wait something will fall down for the sky ?
Sorry to say that but I am a bit tired to try, try, try...
This afternoon i will try on another domain in your server here.
Thanks
Bernard
Hi,
As you are the only customer reporting issues I have to believe the issue is either on your end or the connectivity from you to us. Have you taken any steps on your end to troubleshoot the issue? Have you contacted your Internet Service Provider and discussed the issue with them? Have you opened a support ticket with us and included traceroutes from you to us? Despite your beliefs, not every issue you experience is our fault.
I might suggest you take a couple deep breaths, as the last few tickets you've opened with us have been less than professional on your part and your post here seems to indicate the sky is falling when nothing could be further from the truth. I understand you may be frustrated, but if this was a widespread problem we could be receiving tickets from other customers describing slow uploads.
Now, please do follow up on the troubleshooting steps I've mentioned above and feel free to open a support ticket if you have further questions.
