Since moving into Equinix we have been sharing rack space with one other customer. With our sustained growth rate over the past year we quickly outgrew the space available and now require additional space in order to meet our current and future needs.
About 4 weeks ago we put an order in with Equinix for a new cabinet just for our gear. The cabinet was installed earlier today. The network cross connect from our provider have already been installed in the new cabinet. We hope to have confirmation of power installed to that cabinet tomorrow.
Provided the power is installed tomorrow, we will be scheduling a 20 minute maintenance window for next Saturday (February 26, 2005) during the day in order to move equipment into the new cabinet. The exact time during the day is still TBD however I would anticipate it to be around the 11am to noon time frame.
I realize an outage during the day is not ideal, however we require resources from both our Internet provider, Equinix and our own staff in order to facilitate a successful and quick move of servers and networking equipment. While the equipment is only moving about 15 feet, and we anticipate no difficulties whatsoever, it is nice to know if something does come up, the resources we may need, will be onsite and available.
We will send out an official email tomorrow provided we receive word about the power.
