Is this the once a month VPS6 reboot? ;)
11/1 VPS6 - Reboot
10/9/2006 - VPS6 Reboot
:D
We are currently troubleshooting issues with VPS6, yes, and will update the thread with more information as soon as possible.
Hi folks, we apologize for this emergency maintenance. We are going to be upgrading the kernel on VPS6 here shortly, which will require 1 more reboot for the new kernel to be applied. I will update everyone as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.
edit: Also - as Tom reminded me, we have had an ongoing support issue open with SWsoft regarding the recent issue with VPS6. We have contacted them again just a few minutes ago and eagerly await to hear back from them.
The new kernel has been installed on VPS6 and it is rebooting now. I will update everyone here shortly.
A few VPS servers are already up, and the rest are starting now. I will update this thread when they are all online.
More than half the VDS servers are up and running. Strolen, yours came up 10 minutes ago.
Hi folks,
All VDS servers are now online. Thanks for your patience and we do apologize for the unexpected maintenance.
For anyone that is interested, below are the stats for VPS6 since it was placed online on August 5th, 2006, broken down month by month:
08/05/06 - 08/31/06: 100% availability
09/01/06 - 09/30/06: 100% availability
10/01/06 - 10/31/06: 99.9% availability
11/01/06 - 11/30/06: 99.9% availability
12/01/06 - present: 99.8% availability
--------------------------------------
Over 130d 18h 58m 51s: 99.9% availability
* Barring any further issues, the 99.8% availability for December will increase as we near the end of the month.
I am pleased to say the other servers are, and have been, at 100% availability for as long as I can remember, excluding the emergency kernel upgrades performed on those servers which addressed security issues. We do take matters of security quite seriously and will always upgrade as needed to address such matters.
As Strolen pointed out, there was a quick reboot last month which was also posted in the forums, as well as one before that. Immediately after last month's issue, we engaged SWsoft (the developers of the Virtuozzo platform on which the VDS servers run), for their investigation into the issue. They were informed of this evening's issues as well.

I didn't mean it as a personal jab and if it came off that way, I do sincerely apologize. Moved here from a horrible host with monthly reboots so I am overly conscience of when they happen. They always had to fsck for half a day and, while I continually got free months of service, I would rather pay for it and be online.
You are always on it before I can post or put in a ticket (well, I beat you by about 5 minutes on your forum post today but I knew that there would be something quick...as always) so I wasn't too worried.
Your support is phenomenal and I have no real worries about it. I just have very observant users that are quick on the draw to email me when the site is down but they are also very pleased with the responses and updates.
Thanks for a great job...again. Hardware and software will do as it will sometimes and it is good to know that issues are always quickly resolved with in-process updates.
Not a problem Strolen. I didn't take it personally, I just hate downtime, all of us here do and we know customers do too. I just wanted to post the uptime stats so any potential customers browsing our forums would see how we operate in terms of availability.
I did see the "New User at Myriad Network Customer Forum" email that vBulletin sent at 7:28 PM when you signed up, and by the time I had posted the thread (7:27 PM) we had already been working the issue for a few minutes. If you were actively working on something on your VDS at the moment the issues begun, I do feel pretty confident you saw the issue first, as our server monitoring setup does its checks every 60 - 90 seconds. We always try to be first, but I think you in fact may have won this time :)
Thanks for your understanding about the issue. As you mentioned, sometimes these things do happen, and as long we continue to begin addressing any issues immediately as they occur, that's the best any hosting provider can do. Have a good evening all.
